Honor 5X to receive Marshmallow, regular security patches and EMUI4

For those who were excited to hear that the Honor 5X would be making its way to the US, only to find out that early adopters wouldn’t be able to experience the latest version Android, we’ve got some good news for you. The company has just reached out to Android Authority to let us know that the US-bound Honor 5X would be receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow at some point in the future, along with the latest build of Honor’s custom software, EMUI4.

What’s more, Honor 5X owners can expect to receive regular Android security patches, which is a trend many other OEMs have been adopting over the past few months. In fact, the 5X is scheduled to receive an OTA update on January 31st, which is also the day the smartphone becomes available on Amazon. Honor is trying to get as much feedback from customers as possible through online communities such as the one found at club.hihonor.com/us/index. As a refresher, the Honor 5X comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a Snapdragon 615 processor, microSD card expansion up to 128GB, and a pretty nice 13MP rear camera. It also has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, an all-metal build and a 3000mAh battery which should be enough to last through a full day on a single charge.
