SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 EDGE RUMORS AND NEWS:-
After offering just one Edge phone in 2014, the Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung surprisingly
offered two such devices in 2015. In doing so, however, the company moved the series to
the Galaxy S line, calling them the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (pictured
above). The Galaxy S6 Edge sports a 5.1-inch display, while the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus
features a display that is a more phablet-like 5.7 inches.
Samsung is expected to keep the Edge models with the Galaxy S line, but the question is if there will be
one or two models in 2016. Here’s everything we know so far.
is reporting that Samsung will not only offer two sizes of the Galaxy S6 Edge, but they will debut at the same time. It has already been reported that Samsung is working on two sizes for the Galaxy S7; 5.2 and 5.8 inches. The initial thought was that both of those devices would be non-edge displays and would simply be two size offerings, similar to what Apple does with the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Based on this report, Samsung is likely to offer both sizes as Edge models too.
However, an earlier report from the same source in mid-October indicated that Samsung will offer only one Edge model in 2016. In this case, Samsung might be reserving the 5.8-inch model for the Edge display because the 5.2-inch size will more than likely be the basic non-curved Galaxy S7.
If the earlier report is true, it has us wondering if the Edge display is as popular as once believed. According to reports earlier in the year, Samsung underestimated the demand of the Galaxy S6 Edge, which is why it wasn’t surprising the Korean giant followed up with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus a few months later. Now, though, it seems that maybe consumers aren’t as excited about the curvy edges.
Assuming Samsung only offers one Edge model, and it’s the larger version, its name would be another question. If it is indeed the 5.8-inch model, it would more than likely be called the Galaxy S7 Edge Plus, but it would seem weird if there wasn’t a base (non-plus) model as well. Samsung could also simply call it the Galaxy S7 Edge, but that would also be strange since it could actually be bigger than the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
Of course, this all hearsay and as much fun as it is to speculate on what Samsung might be thinking. nothing is set in stone until we hear it directly from the horse’s mouth. Whatever the company decides, let’s hope those edges actually become more useful. Good looks alone can only get you so far.
